If you’re anything like me, looking after house plants has never gone to plan and I’ve always been forgetful when it comes to watering them. I live in a flat, so unfortunately don’t have a garden or outside space; being a lover of greenery and scenery, I am always on the look out for items that will brighten up my living space.
When I first started noticing an increase in popularity of succulents, I immediately jumped on board the trend. I’ve found them to be a great addition to the home and luckily, they are easy to maintain meaning even when they do get forgotten about, it takes a while for them to be affected.
I’ve found that it’s easy to incorporate these unique and versatile plants into your home, they love dry humidity, warm conditions and can adapt to your surroundings. Some succulents thrive off sunlight and can beautify a windowsill whilst others can hide away with limited light but still look as pretty as when you first bought it.
Since they have become the plant to have in the home, I’ve started noticing all kinds of succulents on offer in supermarkets and homeware stores, offered in all different shapes and sizes, potted and unpotted, but all very affordable. If you want a more exclusive and unique look you can get them in a terrarium. A terrarium is a container which houses a succulent/s and can be decorated with soil, stones, sand or gravel. If you want to get a little more creative with your terrarium, you can add small models to make it look like a miniature fairy-tale garden.
Depending on how weird and wonderful your succulents are and how interestingly shaped your terrarium is, they can be uniquely featured on a table, shelf or even hung up and still be easily looked after as the more accessible, potted ones. There really is no end to the potential for creativity when choosing succulents for your home.
My favourite thing about these sensational plants is that you can serve them a drink of water every now and then and know that after a few days or weeks you won’t be walking it to the bin. I can say this for certain, these will be an eyecatcher for any guests that visit and the trend will be passed on. Succulents are perfect for any of you that have a busy lifestyle but also appreciate the beauty of fresh foliage around your house.
