Tough times

It’s been a difficult few weeks as my good friend and work colleague Andrew Grant lost his short battle with cancer, he had just turned 50. Granty, as he was known, was a key member of our franchise team, he was a true gent and brilliant at his job. I know it is always easy to say that we are a “Hunters family”, but we are and he was a significant part of that.

Granty and I have shared a company apartment in York for the last 2.5 years, he soon became a regular at our local “boozer” and there were many great times. He was married to Tracey and they have 4 children, he will be sorely missed.

The company put out the following statement, please note the Just Giving page, we have raised over £2,500 so far for all those amazing people at Macmillan who helped Granty and his family so much, all donations greatly received.

Tribute to Andrew Grant

“After a short but brave battle with cancer, our dear colleague and friend Andrew Grant passed away on 1st October 2016.

“A truly outstanding individual with an incredible eye for detail, a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, and a passionate champion for franchising, Andrew was well known, much respected and liked throughout the property industry.

“He affected people and businesses in a remarkable and positive way wherever he worked.

“Starting out as a trainee sales negotiator in 1986, Andrew worked as a regional manager for two of the country’s national corporate chains before joining Countrywide’s franchising division as operations director in 2002.

“Transferring with the sale of the business to Hunters in 2011, Andrew became a real asset to our franchising team as commercial and operations director.

“Andrew was a role-model colleague, a rock, a gentleman and a friend, and is very sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

“Andrew was only 50 and our thoughts are with his loving wife Tracey and four children at this most difficult time.

“The Macmillan nurses offered great support to Andrew and his family and we would like to say thank you to them.

“In memory of our dear friend and colleague and in support of the fantastic work they do, we are raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support via a Just Giving page for Andrew.

“Thank you to all colleagues and friends who have already contributed so generously and sent wonderful messages about Andrew.”
