While Collier Row doesn’t have a train station, nearby Romford station is 10 minutes by car or 22 minutes by bus. The station has an overground service that runs to Liverpool Street Station, getting you there in 25 minutes with trains several times each hour.
The area has plenty of restaurants to choose from, including Indian and fine dining too. For food during the day, there’s a good cafe culture to pop into for a coffee and cake.
The town has all the essential shops you need including small supermarkets, gift shops and health and beauty shops.
It’s a compact town with everything you need for day to day life including good schools, a library and decent public transport. And with the capital close by, there are even more options available if you can’t find it in Collier Row.

Collier Row is a small town in Romford, East London.
It’s an ideal spot for commuters, with Romford station a 10-minute drive away and getting you into central London in 25 minutes. Collier row doesn’t have its station, but bus services are frequent and easily accessible in Romford. The A12 is 9 minutes away by car and runs to Essex and connects to the M25 too.
There are several primary schools in and around Collier Row rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted, so it’s an excellent area for families to relocate to. There’s also a good secondary school in Chase Cross for kids aged 11 to 16 and an independent school for children from 3 to 16.
When it comes to shopping, Collier Row has all the essentials. There’s Boots, ALDI, independent gift shops and clothes shops, an opticians and a nail bar. There are more big-name brands in Romford, including supermarkets, Primark and Marks and Spencer. Of course, central London has loads to offer too.
There’s no shortage of restaurants and places to eat in Collier Row. From cute little cafes for cake and coffee to several popular Indian restaurants and traditional chippies, there are many choices to enjoy a meal out. For drinks, there’s a handful of bars and pubs in the area with more choice in nearby Romford.
Collier Row has a post office, library, several hairdressers, medical centres, GP surgeries, and dentists for essential amenities. The nearest A&E is at Queen’s Hospital, which is 10 minutes away by car.
Collier Row has a few green spaces for kids to run around, including a recreation ground with a play area. A mile away is Havering Country Park, 165 acres of bridleways, paths, woodland and open grassy areas.
For other activities, Romford has a leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool, ice rink and gym. Nearby Wellgate Community Farm is a small farm open to the public and is a great place to visit with kids. Further down the road from the farm is a bowling alley in The City Pavilion, which doubles up as an events space.
