Why live in Hillingdon?

Hillingdon is a popular area in Greater London, and it’s just 14 miles west of Charing Cross.

Hillingdon has its own Underground station making it a great location for commuters travelling into central London. Hillingdon tube station is on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines of the London Underground, and nearby West Ruislip tube station is served by the Central line. Hillingdon is also served by the Oxford Tube and Oxford X90. There are several bus services within the area, including one that connects through to Heathrow Central Bus Station. For those travelling by car, the A40 connects through to the M25, M4 and M40 making travel from here easy and accessible.

Hillingdon has great education provision for children of all ages. There are plenty of nurseries and preschools for very young children and there’s a lot of primary schools in the area too. Hillingdon has several secondary schools available for older children and Brunel University London has a campus here providing a local setting for higher education.

Food stores are found throughout the local area, including a butchers and bakery, so it’s easy to get your grocery shopping done locally. Nearby, Uxbridge has a shopping centre that provides plenty of high street names to the area.

When meeting up with friends, Hillingdon has a variety of local, independent cafes to enjoy, and there’s a good selection of restaurants too. If you fancy staying in, you can choose from one of the many local takeaways, which provide plenty of cuisines to choose between.

Hillingdon is well-known for having plenty of greenspace in and around the area. The local park provides tennis courts, formal gardens and a play area, and the whole borough of Hillingdon has an impressive 800 acres of country parks and woodlands to explore.

There are plenty of places to go if you enjoy sports, including the local golf club or cricket club, and there’s also a local sports and leisure centre.

    Tommy Anderson has been a part of our Hunters team since 2014. He first embarked upon his Hunters Journey straight after leaving school where he joined our team as an apprentice. Becoming an apprentice kick-started Tommy’s career within the Property Industry where he has grown both personally and professionally. Since 2014, Tommy Anderson has participated within our comprehensive training academy, gaining specialist knowledge in key areas, improving skills and expanding his capabilities. His expertise make a difference personally and professionally by championing better work practices leading to the delivery of exceptionally premium service to all his customers. Tommy Anderson has worked hard through the years demonstrating his dedication, enthusiasm and experience to the industry which has lead him to the management of our highly successful Hayes Branch. Tommy is responsible for overseeing the ‘day to day’ running of the Hayes team and strives towards positive outcomes for his team as well as business proving he is an exceptional leader focused on producing great results. Tommy’s main focus is business generation leading to the procurement of a vast variety of homes to fulfill the demand in Residential Sales and Lettings.     Sofia Queiroz joined Hunters in 2018, after spending many years in hospitality within a managerial role. Sofia looks after all our new clients looking to rent their home through Hunters in Hayes, working hard with the landlords and tenants to ensure a swift and smooth transaction. Since joining Hunters, Sofia has enrolled onto our Hunters Training Academy and recently passed her HNQ Lettings Award in April 2019. His passion for property begun once his family began renovating his family home, he shortly developed a keen interest in the housing industry. Abun has been working tenaciously in helping customers find their ideal homes aiding them through the house buying process within residential sales. Abun’s agency skills and knowledge in the local area has attributed to swift results by sharing optimism and positivity for the Hayes housing market and local community. Abun has graduated in Marketing (BA Hons) which coupled with his experience gained within Hunters has contributed tremendously in aiding our customers confidently through the house buying and selling process. Hillingdon Primary School has been rated outstanding by Ofsted, and there are many other primary options including St Bernadette Catholic Primary School and Highfield Primary School. For secondary education, there’s Oak Wood School, Bishopshalt School and De Salis Studio College. Brunel University London has its campus here providing a fantastic, local higher education setting.

Shops & Local Amenities

There are plenty of shops in and around Hillingdon with a variety of food stores such as Hillingdon Food Centre and two Co-ops. Manor Butchery Hillingdon is popular with local people, and Cake Box is another favourite as it provides a fantastic selection of sweet treats. The Pavilions is an indoor shopping centre located nearby in Uxbridge and it provides many of the high street names in the area. There’s a Marks & Spencer, Clarks, Primark, Wilko, The Entertainer and much more.

Hillingdon has plenty of places to go for a coffee with family or friends. Betty’s Café, Kookoobutnice Cafe, and Darcy’s Café are all popular independent places, and you can even try out bubble tea at Teddy Bear Bubble Tea Hillingdon. There are more well-known brands such as Costa Coffee in the area too.

When heading out for a meal, Zaza’s Lebanese Cuisine provides a great menu, and Star of India is a well-established and popular restaurant here. If you’re in the mood for a takeaway, Hillingdon Fish Bar serves up tasty fish and chips, Dynasty is a great Chinese takeaway, and there’s also Anika’s Takeaway, which serves Indian food.

Hillingdon Hospital provides healthcare to people living in the area and it’s got an Accident and Emergency Department within it too. GP services are also available at Hillingdon Health Centre.

Activities

There’s plenty of greenspace in and around Hillingdon; the whole borough of Hillingdon has an impressive 800 acres of country parks and woodlands within it, so there’s plenty to explore. Locally, Hillingdon Court Park provides tennis courts, formal gardens, a playground and a bowling green.

For those that enjoy sports, there’s Hillingdon Golf Club and Hillingdon Manor Cricket Club. Heading out towards Uxbridge, there’s also Hillingdon Sports & Leisure Complex, which has a gym, sports courts and a Grade II listed outdoor swimming pool, which was previously known as Uxbridge Lido.

Local people love the rural feel that Hillingdon has, whilst also having access to the urban side of things as well. With such good transport links, we’re never far away from the centre of the capital and all the excitement there is to be found there too.
