Wotton-under-Edge is a market town in Gloucestershire that dates back to the 1200s. It’s in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has the Cotswold Way running right through it.
The nearest train station to Wotton-under-Edge is Cam and Dursley station, seven miles away and is on the Bristol to Birmingham line. The M5 is five miles from the town, and Bristol airport is 32 miles away. The area has excellent bus services, taking locals to nearby towns and villages and Bristol city centre.
The town centre is a bustling hive of activity with plenty of independent stores. Locals can find everything they need here, and there’s also a monthly farmers market and a monthly antique sale.
Wotton-under-edge has a fantastic choice of local cafes for tea, coffee and lunch, and there’s also a great selection of old, traditional pubs serving up delicious meals too.
Wotton has local GP services and a pharmacy, and the nearest hospital is seven miles away.
There’s plenty for locals to do in Wotton-under-Edge. Enjoy a film at the local independent cinema, or in the summer months, make the most of Wotton Pool, which is an open-air pool with a retractable roof, open from April to October.

Location: Our office sits in the middle of our busy high street if town. Leaving the M5 at junction 14, you proceed along the B4509 past the Tortworth Estate and turn left at the roundabout into Charfield Village. This road (B4058) takes you through to the top Wotton under Edge Town, with Long Street on your left. You will find us at number 32.
Parking: If you are visiting us by car you have a few options for parking: There is ample on-road parking on Long Street itself at the front of our office. You can also park in one of the long and short stay parking spots in ‘The Chipping’ at the rear of the High Street. You can access these from the main road into the town by turning right into Symn Lane and turning the second left into the Chipping Car Park. From here you can walk directly into Long Street.

The “edge” in the town’s name refers to Cotswold Edge’s limestone escarpment, which the town nestles underneath.

Wotton-under-Edge has two primary schools; Blue Coat CEVA Primary School and The British School. The local secondary school is Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School, founded in 1384 and is said to be the oldest state secondary school in the UK.
The bustling town centre has a great range of independent shops to browse and enjoy. Cookability sells a range of kitchenware, and there’s Clarence’s gift shop, Wotton Pet Shop, Tanzee Designs craft shop and the Cotswold Book Room, amongst many others. A farmer’s market takes place in the Town Hall on the first Saturday of every month, with stalls full of local produce, plants and craft items. The Auction Room hosts antique sales at the end of every month, and the Town Hall hosts “Town Hall Teas” on Sunday afternoons from April to October.
The town centre has a great range of independent food and drinks, including The Edge Coffee Shop and The Wotton Coffee Shop. There’s a thriving pub scene here, with traditional pubs like The Swan Hotel, a 17th-century inn, and The Royal Oak Inn serving up homecooked meals. The Falcon Steakhouse is another good choice, and it provides delicious, locally sourced food. You can also eat out at India Palace or get a takeaway from Delights Pizza & Kebab.
Wotton-under-Edge has good amenities, with grocery stores, GP surgeries, a Lloyds pharmacy and a library. The nearest hospital is Vale Community Hospital in Dursley, which is seven miles away.
There’s plenty for locals to do and get involved in. Wotton Electric Picture House is a 100 seat cinema refurbished for digital and 3D films. Locals enjoy making the most of Wotton Pool in the summer months. It’s a heated pool that’s open from April to September, and it has a retractable roof for when the weather is cold. Wotton has a strong arts scene; Under the Edge Arts runs performances, workshops, festivals and trails throughout the year.
Walkers are attracted to Wotton-under-Edge because The Cotswold Way runs right through the town centre. Wotton Hill is well worth the short climb, too, as it provides spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding area.
