Steps we are taking to protect our staff and customers

At Hunters, we always put our staff and customers at the heart of what we do. Despite current circumstances, many of you will need to sell, let or buy property and many of you will be renting accommodation through Hunters right now. We would like to assure you that the well-being of our customers and our employees remains our priority during the global Coronavirus pandemic

We are committed to maintaining business as usual in order to aid our customers, suppliers and staff in this difficult period and you can continue to contact us by phone or email and our other online facilities.

However, please note that our branches are now physically closed to assist in the national effort to contain the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). To contact your local branch, please visit our office page.

As a business, we are following the guidelines and recommendations given by the government and we will continue to do so.

If you are considering a move right now and want to know the value of your property, instead of booking for one of our agents to come out and see you, why not get a free property estimate and full report through our online tool,  worth £19.95.

Sellers and Buyers

During this unprecedented time, Hunters offices nationally are committed to supporting current transactions and seeing them through to completion. Using Hunters Conveyancing and our 24/7 e-platform* (*participating branches only) as well as the My Hunters portal allows you to track your sale from valuation to completion entirely online.

We are continuing the marketing of our properties that are for sale in alternative pro-active ways that maintain social distancing.

Many properties are available to view through a virtual viewing or a video tour, however following government guidance, we regret that we can no longer visit properties.

According to the Government guidelines updated on 26 March, Hunters will:

  • Work with our clients and other agents to broker a new date to move where sales are due to complete on occupied properties in the current period where emergency measures are in place to fight coronavirus (COVID-19).
  • Prioritise support for anyone with symptoms, self-isolating or shielding from the virus, and those they are in chain with, to agree a new date.
  •  Not open branches to the public during this period or visit people’s homes to carry out market appraisals.
  •  Ensure that employees can work from home, to support existing clients and advise potential new clients.
  •  Continue to progress sales where this can be done whilst following guidance to stay at home. and away from others.
  •    Advise clients to be patient and not to exchange contracts unless the contracts have explicit terms to manage the timing risks presented by the virus.

As always, we aim to offer you the best possible service. All our standard package services are operating as normal, but we will make sure if anything changes as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic to contact you.

For more information please visit the official Government site here.

We continue to follow all Government guidance as landlords remain legally obligated to ensure properties meet the required standards – so urgent, essential health and safety repairs should be made and we will make every effort to assist all parties with this. We will also be following the new rules on seeking possession until advised otherwise.

Rental Payments

Tenants are still liable for their rent and should pay this as usual which we are monitoring. If they face financial hardship and struggle to pay this, support is available. In this unique context we are encouraging tenants to talk to us so we can guide them to the support available.

For more information, contact your local branch or visit the government website.

We are continuing the marketing of our properties that are to let in pro-active ways. Many of our properties have video tours you can watch wherever, whenever.

We understand you will be finding it a worrying time at present. At Hunters we want to reassure our tenants that we are here to support you.
Self-isolating? Tenants who are currently self-isolating should continue to communicate with your local Hunters branch as normal.
The government has announced a package of measures to protect renters and landlords affected by coronavirus. You can read more here

If you have a maintenance issue, please submit your request through the online maintenance platform, you can find the link on your local branch page (where applicable), or call the office if necessary. Landlords remain legally obligated to ensure properties meet the required standard – urgent, essential health and safety repairs should be made for which we will make every effort to do so. An agreement for non-urgent repairs to be done later will be made between tenants and landlords.

Please respect that we will have to ask pertinent questions regarding your (potential or otherwise) exposure to COVID-19.  This information will help our team and the contractors respond to your enquiry quickly and efficiently in line with the government guidance provided to us.

Your Rent Payments

It is important that you keep in touch with us and let us know if you are in financial difficulty so that we can make your landlord aware of the situation and work with you to get through it. Much funding has been made readily available by the government to help renters so it is worth checking whether you are receiving all the financial help available, these may include; The Coronavirus Job Retention scheme, applying for Universal Credit; or applying for Statutory Sick Pay; If you have any concerns at all about your property, accounts or current tenancy please follow the usual communication route outlined in your tenancy agreement.

We are continuing the marketing of our properties that are to let in pro-active ways. Many of our properties have video tours you can watch wherever, whenever.
