Brierley Hill Local Area Guide

This branch of Hunters is situated in the small town of Brierley Hill in the west midlands of England located around 2.5 miles away from the centre of Dudley. Being part of the Black Country industrial area, Brierley Hill is renowned for its history within the industrial area and is best known for its glass and steel manufacturing.

The majority of Brierley Hill retail and tourist destinations revolve highly around its industrial past. An example being the large Merry Hill Shopping Centre developed by Don Richardson, located just east of the town centre. This shopping centre boasts as one of the largest in the UK, and was built in 1980 on the grounds of the last working urban farm in the West Midlands. There is also a well-known glass museum situated close by that was once a local pub named The Bottle and Glass Inn.

Brierley Hill has a diversity of education facilities, including over 11 primary and two secondary schools.  The town is located just off the main A461 road between Stourbridge and Dudley, making it easily accessible for visitors and quick travel to neighbouring locations. There is no current passenger train line in the town, however located just 1 mile south east is the Crawley Heath rail station.  

Brierley Hill is home to some of the most traditional and welcoming ale houses, including the Wetherspoon Abraham Darby, Tenth Lock Pub and The Bulls Head. Each one of these local pubs welcomes the community and offers tasty ale and delicious pub classics.
