Carterton was once famous for the 'Carterton tomatoes' ' which were popular at the Covent Garden market in London. The Brize Norton base started construction circa 1935 and grew as the second world war was being fought.

46 Aircraft were destroyed and what was left was scattered around the village, including one hangar which is where we now see 'Aldi'. The USAF bombers made the camo their home during 1950 to 1965 before the RAF took it back in around 1965 and continued to grow the site, and now Brize Norton is the main air base in the UK.

There are many events during the year in Carterton, including various school activities, charity events and a Carterton market. We will keep you posted with all the local events once we have them.
