Moving House Checklist

Mon 08 Jul 2013

Moving home can be a stressful affair and ranks right up there with getting a divorce in terms of how difficult people can find it. However, in order to make the move go as smoothly as possible, it’s all really just in the planning.

Bearing this in mind, we’ve put together a checklist so that you can organise yourself, before moving and on the big day itself.

Before the day arrives

At around eight weeks:

  • Get quotes from removal firms and ensure that your valuable items will be adequately covered during the move by insurance

  • Have a clear out! Empty the attic, garage and outbuildings, throwing away anything that’s no longer usable and taking the rest to a charity shop or car boot sale

  • Start using up food such as perishables, frozen goods and tins
