Traffic falls 25% for new property portal

Property portal On The Market has caused somewhat of a stir in the property industry. The latest news on this comes from Hitwise data which shows that traffic to OTM last week fell by 25% compared to the previous week, which highlights that the new portal is so far failing to gain the attention of customers, despite the scale of its launch marketing campaign. Traffic to its biggest competitors saw growth over the same period; Zoopla recorded a 4% increase and Rightmove a 2% increase.

OTM has come to the end of its 6 week launch marketing campaign and since then the traffic to the site has been falling steadily. With two months since its launch the gap between OTM and Rightmove and Zoopla is now widening.

According to Zoopla, its audience remains 21 times larger than that of OTM giving a hugely significant advantage to those agents, (like Hunters), who have stuck with the two market leading property portals.
