Abbey Wood Station is undergoing a complete rebuild to facilitate the new Crossrail services.

Plans for a brand new station have been approved by the London Borough of Bexley and the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

The new two-level station will open in 2017/18 and will provide a bright and spacious concourse, improved ticket hall layout and two new ‘island’ platforms. Following the opening of the interim station in autumn 2014 the original station was demolished to make way for the construction of the new station. The interim station includes a staffed gate line, ticket machines and windows, and a cash point. It will also provide an accessible route to all platforms throughout the build programme via lifts.

Crossrail represents a major step-change in public transport for the local area, and is the single biggest addition to the local rail network since the North Kent line was built in 1849. It will be a significant spur to regeneration in Abbey Wood, encouraging investment and development as well as supporting jobs and businesses in the local area.
