Bexleyheath is a suburban district at the centre of the London Borough of Bexley. It has a bustling town and shopping centre, hosting a number of popular high street names and local shops alike.
The mainline train station at Bexleyheath is at Pickford Lane and is ideal for commuters with fast services in and out of London stations including Charing Cross, London Bridge and Cannon Street. Bexleyheath has a state of the art leisure centre that has been expanded in recent years to include full gym facilities, dance studios and swimming pools.
Set between Bexleyheath and Welling, Danson Park is a favourite attraction for locals and visitors to the area. It offers a full array of sports and leisure facilities including a children’s play and splash park, football pitches, tennis courts, mini golf, a lawn bowls club and woodland walks. It also boasts a large boating lake with boat house for functions and lessons. It also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including the Danson Festival in July, Bexley Rotary and the yearly fireworks display. This park is also the home of Danson House, a recently restored Grade I listed Georgian Mansion, available to hire for functions.
Other attractions in Bexleyheath include The Red House, designed by architect Philip Webb for the artist William Morris (now under National Trust ownership) and Hall Place, a Grade I listed Tudor country house. Built in 1537 and set in 65 acres of award-winning gardens, it includes the Bexley Museum Collection and riverside cafe, and is a popular venue for events, concerts and art activities.
