Brentford is a town located in west London and is located in the London Borough of Hounslow. The area is part of Greater London and around 8 miles from the centre of the city to the south west.
The area is a suburban area that’s built on the River Brent as a fording point and is also a terminus of the Grand Union Canal – which is still used for leisure. Brentford High Street is approximately 1 mile from the M4 motorway, the main road between London and Wales.
Public transport is offered in the area through a number of nearby train stations – Brentford railway station, Kew Bridge railway station and Syon Lane railway station. There is also a selection of close-by tube stations – the nearest of which are Northfields tube station, Boston Manor tube station, South Ealing tube station and Gunnersbury tube station – which is also part of the London Overground.
Brentford is home to a number of multinational companies including Allianz, JCDecaux and Sega Europe among a range of others. There are also a number of shops, retail areas and retail amenities in this pleasant suburban area.
The Watermans Art Centre is a multi-purpose space in the area, situated along the banks of the River Thames and overlooking Kew Gardens. It houses a theatre and cinema, as well as a bar, café and restaurant. The area is also home to the Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre Brentford has its fair share of bars restaurants and pubs and is only a short journey from Ealing, Richmond and Chiswick.
Syon House and Garden, the lavish home of the Duke of Northumberland is another fantastic addition to the area. It’s glorious conservatory and Grade 1 listed gardens are very pleasant features, while nearby the Kew Bridge Steam Museum is also a draw.
Sports are also well represented in the area and Brentford has its own professional football team Brentford FC and also a number of rowing clubs and other water sports based teams.
Brentford is a fantastic suburban area that provides a number of amenities, good transport links and a notable history. It’s a short distance to London and well served in an array of ways.
