Easingwold is a picturesque market town north of York, nestled in the countryside. The town sits at the foot of the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
It’s an excellent place to live for commuters. Next to the A19, Easingwold is a 30-minute drive from York and 45 minutes from Harrogate. Regular local buses make it easy to visit neighbouring towns and villages, as well as nearby cities.
Exploring the countryside and coast is easily achievable from Easingwold, with the seaside or the Yorkshire Dales just over an hour away. Castle Howard is less than 30 minutes drive away and has a country park and a stately home.
Easingwold has a primary school, Easingwold Community Primary School, and a secondary school. There are also two early years settings in the town, so families are well catered for.
There’s regular farmers markets, quality shopping, excellent eateries, cafes, and bars for entertainment. The cobbled market square hosts weekly open markets, as well as monthly farmers markets. The town has plenty of charming independent stores, such as High Society (a ladies clothes shop), The Flower Shop Easingwold, and The KandyKave, a local sweet shop. The Yorkshire Jigsaw Store has a huge range of puzzles to choose from and is fun to browse around.
There’s plenty of delicious local food and drink, with cafes and bakeries providing fresh cakes and pastries and pubs serving up hearty meals made with local produce. The Curious Coffee Company serves tasty breakfasts and lunches, along with great coffee, and Emily’s Lunch Box is another lovely local option. The New Inn has great food with service to match, making it a popular local pub, and The Olive Branch is a fantastic café serving fresh food from breakfast through to dinner.
Easingwold has excellent amenities, including healthcare at Millfield Surgery, a small hospital, a pharmacy, a Post Office, a local library, community centre and tourist information. For those that are into sports, there’s Easingwold Golf Club and football and cricket clubs.
The town has two local parks; Memorial Park and Millfields. Millfields is the larger of the two and is home to Easingwold’s Millennium Wood, a young woodland area that’s already a lovely place to explore.
Make the most of the cycleways and hiking trails, and you can also try horse riding or alpaca walking. There’s kayaking and stand up paddle boarding available within just a short distance from the town too.
Easingwold has plenty of places to visit nearby, including all that York and Harrogate have to offer. Other options are Sutton Park with its 18th-century house and gardens and National Trust’s Beningbrough Hall, which has gardens, play areas for children, a restaurant, plants and local produce on sale, and an art exhibition to enjoy.
