Easton is a vibrant neighbourhood in Bristol, east of the city centre. There’s a strong sense of community in this multicultural part of the city, and a love of all things artistic and ethical.
Lawrence Hill and Stapleton Road train stations make the city centre easily accessible from Easton, with services getting residents to Bristol Temple Meads station in minutes. Temple Meads runs services all over the country, so commuting from Easton is straightforward. London is just 1hr40mins with plenty of trains running to the capital city throughout the week. For those travelling by car, the M32 passes the border of Easton, getting locals out of the area quickly to reach nearby cities or to travel further afield. There are plenty of buses serving the local area too.
Easton has several schools, including Easton Primary School and Easton CE Academy. The local high school is City Academy Bristol and it achieved a Good Ofsted rating.
Easton has a great atmosphere and is home to many independent shops, bars and restaurants. BAM Store + Space, is a non-profit organisation that celebrates and supports local artists and stocks a range of homeware, games, books, and more.
Stapleton Road’s retailers include several grocers, R Jenkins Butchers, local fishmongers Tovey’s Seafood, and Coco’s Desserts. There are also other essentials like hairdressers and clothes shops too.
Maitreya Social opened over 20 years ago and is said to be one of the first-ever plant-based restaurants. It’s a cosy spot on vibrant St Mark’s Road, serving vegan and vegetarian food made with local produce.
One of the most well-known places on St Mark’s Road is Bristol Sweet Mart, which has been open since 1978. This family-run supermarket and deli have an enormous selection (over 9,000 products) of fresh produce, herbs and spices. The deli also serves up delicious ready-to-eat curries, salads and sweet treats.
The eateries in Easton represent the area’s multicultural nature and there are many independent cafes and restaurants to choose from. Enjoy Jamaican food at Bikkle Island, or Punjabi British dishes at Pipal Tree. Thali has a bohemian vibe and serves up big, beautiful dishes, great for family meals or evenings out with friends. The Greenbank Pub is a local gastro-pub with a classic pub menu including gammon, pizzas and burgers, and it regularly holds events for locals.
Easton has good amenities for locals. Due to its proximity to the city centre, Bristol Royal Infirmary is close by, and there are dentists, medical practices and pharmacies in the area too.
Each year to celebrate Eid, Easton hosts The Grand Iftar which is the largest street party of its kind in the UK. There’s food, music and activities that the whole family can enjoy.
Easton is only minutes from Bristol centre by train, so locals here have easy access to everything the city centre has to offer too.
