Knowle Bristol

Knowle is south-east of Bristol and just 1.5 miles outside of the city centre.

The A37, known locally as Wells Road, runs right through Knowle, giving easy access to central Bristol. With the city centre being so close, it’s easy to get to Bristol Temple Meads station for train services across the UK. When travelling by car, it’s quick and easy to get onto the M32, and this gives access to the M4 (heading east and west) and the M5 (heading north and south). There are frequent bus services within Knowle, running to the city centre as well as other areas of Bristol. Given how close the centre of Bristol is, it’s also possible to cycle in if you’d prefer an active commute.

For younger children, there are a couple of preschools in the area, and several primary schools. Cleve House School is a local independent primary school, with a nursery too, and there’s also Knowle Park Primary School and Hillcrest Primary School. There are several secondary schools nearby, including St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School, and Bedminster Down School.

Broadwalk Shopping Centre on Wells Road has a great selection of stores for locals to make the most of. There are many well-known brands here, such as B&M, Iceland, Superdrug and Card Factory. Shoppers can also grab a bite to eat at Subway, Greggs or Retro Bakes. For those with little ones, there’s a soft play for the children to enjoy and it has its own café too.

When heading out for a meal or drink, many locals enjoy The Knowle Pub, which has real ales, great food and a gorgeous walled garden. There are several local takeaways and plenty of options for fish and chips in the area. A little further up Wells Road in Totterdown are a few more restaurants like A Capella with its award-winning pizza, and Southside Bristol, with delicious burgers, beers and cocktails.

Callington Road Hospital is just a mile away, and Knowle has several GP clinics and pharmacies.

Knowle has plenty of green space, with several parks. Redcatch Park is the main one, with football pitches, children’s play areas, tennis courts, and there are often events here throughout the year. Perrett’s Park has stunning views across Bristol with a lovely, large terrace at the top of it. Callington Road Nature Reserve is another beautiful area with wildlife and beautiful wildflowers.

Locals can also make the most of Jubilee Swimming Pool, which has a 25m pool and also a 15 station gym that can be used.

Being just 1.5 miles from Bristol, Knowle residents have easy access to the city centre and all that it has to offer.
