Manchester

Manchester is bursting with life and character. It’s got an impressive past, with the city taking shape through its extensive textile manufacturing during the industrial revolution, and it’s proud of this history. Having undergone considerable investment in recent years, the city now offers everything from cultural enrichment to fine dining.

Manchester city centre has three main train stations; Piccadilly, Oxford Road and Victoria. There are services reaching all over the country from here, so it’s an easy place to commute to and from by train. London can be reached in just over two hours.

Manchester airport is only a 14-minute train journey from the city centre, giving access to over 200 international flight destinations, whether they be for work or pleasure. The M60 ring road around the city centre connects drivers to nearby motorways, and getting around Manchester itself is easy and quick due to the city’s Metrolink tram system.

There’s a good mix of excellent educational settings for children within Manchester. Whether you need a nursery, a primary school, or secondary school, there are plenty of options to choose from, with both state-run and independent options available.

The University of Manchester is a large university just on the edge of the city centre providing a great number of students for landlords to let property to.

Manchester is well known for its shopping. It has everything you could ask for; high street names are found on Market Street, premium department stores at Exchange Square, and luxury fashion brands in Spinningfields. For those looking for an independent shopping experience, The Northern Quarter is the place to go with its vintage shops, cafés and record stores. The Trafford Centre is a few miles outside of the city centre and is a world-renowned shopping and leisure complex. It’s one of the largest shopping centres in the UK.

The northern quarter is home to stylish bars and a variety of eateries serving a range of local and international cuisine. Being located close to Piccadilly, it’s also very accessible to people around the city and beyond.

Manchester has an exciting and thriving nightlife, with a fantastic mix of clubs and bars to suit all tastes. There are cocktails at Mahiki, club nights at Cruz 101, pubs with live theatre (like The Kings Arms), and live music nights at places like Mint Lounge.

For those who enjoy their food, Manchester can’t be beaten. From Mana, Manchester’s first Michelin starred restaurant, to the stylish Australasia, which brings a taste of the Pacific to the table, there are many notable eateries throughout the city.

Manchester is well served with healthcare, with a central walk-in service at City Health Centre. There are several hospitals in the city centre; Manchester Royal Infirmary, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, and North Manchester General Hospital.

There’s plenty to explore within the city, including taking in some fine art at Manchester Art Gallery, or Whitworth Art Gallery, or exploring the city’s history at the Science and Industry Museum. Visit Robinsons Brewery Visitor Centre for a tour, or go to the Great Northern Warehouse, with its bars, eateries, cinema, bowling alley and more.

For those who are into football, there are the grounds of Manchester United and Manchester City to visit. The LEGOLAND discovery centre is a great day out for families, and there are many places to go outside of the centre to enjoy some fresh air, such as Heaton Park or Hollingworth Lake.

One of the city’s greatest aspects is its diversity. From art galleries to night clubs, affordable eateries to Michelin Star restaurants, Manchester really does have it all.
