Is Redditch a Good Place to Live?

Redditch in North East Worcestershire is one of the greenest and most thoughtfully landscaped towns in the country.

Redditch has excellent travel links. The train service into Birmingham New Street, via Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the University, has benefitted from huge improvements and offers 3 departures an hour. There is further investment also planned. Redditch is close to the M5 and M42 giving access to the heart of the motorway network.

Birmingham International Airport and connecting train station is only 19 miles from Redditch Town Centre via the M42 and without excessive traffic it is a comfortable 25 minute drive.

Redditch has many high-quality schools available for primary and secondary education. There is also a further education college available in the town and nearby. Part of Redditch does qualify for the Warwickshire Grammar School applications and the reputable Bromsgrove Independent School is nearby.

Redditch is home to the large indoor Kingfisher shopping centre providing comfortable all-round shopping and plenty of parking. For the more discerning shopper a short journey into Birmingham, Solihull, Worcester or Stratford Upon Avon means you are spoilt for choice.

Redditch also hosts a leg of the Cycling Tour Series which attracts great numbers and is a fantastic event.

There is a great food and drink scene locally with many gastro pubs in some beautiful locations and villages. Again a short journey in a car or on a train provides endless options to suit all tastes.

The Palace is a 420 seat theatre with a Grade II listed auditorium, situated in the heart of Redditch’s town centre. Refurbished in 2005 it now boasts all the modern comforts you’d expect front of house including a bar for pre-show and interval drinks.

NHS health services are easily accessible to people living in the area, with a walk-in centre available for those who need to be seen urgently.

There’s so much to do in and around Redditch and even the Cotswolds are close enough to go for a morning coffee. Go to The National Needle Museum and see the ruins of the Bordesley Abbey. The countryside is on the doorstep in every direction and the nearby canal network offers some fantastic walks and it is impossible not to pass a beautiful pub.
