Sutton Coldfield

Sutton Coldfield is a town seven miles outside of Birmingham city centre. It’s popular with both professionals and families alike because you can be in central Birmingham in less than half an hour while enjoying life in a thriving town with plenty going on locally.

The local train station runs several services to Birmingham each hour, making it really easy to commute into the city centre. The M6 and M42 are both nearby, so commuting by car is viable too. There are fantastic local bus services running to and from Birmingham, and to other nearby places such as Tamworth and Lichfield.

For families, there are a number of amazing state and private schools both in and around Sutton Coldfield. At both primary and secondary level, there are the options of mixed and single-sex schools, and faith schools too.

Gracechurch Shopping Centre is the main shopping hub in Sutton Coldfield and is home to high street shops like Boots, Clarks, Fatface and H&M. There are some tasty places to eat here too, from Caffè Nero and Costa to independents such as Molloy’s and Ted’s Hot Potatoes.

Head further afield into Birmingham, and you have the entire Bullring & Grand Central shopping centre to explore, with brand favourites, high-end boutiques, and more restaurants than you’ll ever have time to sample.

The restaurant quarter in Sutton Coldfield runs from the shopping area and along Birmingham Road. It offers a great mix of cuisines, including Pizza by Goli, Lee Garden (a Cantonese restaurant) and Bashundora (an Indian restaurant). There are the national chains too, like Nandos and TGI Fridays. Sutton Coldfield has a good selection of traditional pubs, like The Butlers Arms and The Crown, and some bars for cocktails too, like Simpsons Gin Bar.

Local healthcare includes Good Hope Hospital as well as several GP practices and pharmacies. Sutton Coldfield also has local libraries, a Post Office and Wyndley Leisure Centre, which has a well-equipped gym and a swimming pool.

Between the natural parks, spas and beautiful architecture throughout Sutton Coldfield, there’s always something to do.

Sutton Park is a National Nature Reserve with over 2,400 acres of land, and it’s one of the largest urban parks in Europe. There’s plenty to discover including woodlands, marshes, wetlands, and lakes, and there’s a visitor centre with a gift shop and facilities. There are all sorts of activities to get involved with including such as sailing, golf and nature watching.
