Tottenham is in Haringey in north London.
There are two London Underground stations in Tottenham; Seven Sisters and Tottenham Hale, which are both on the Victoria line. There are also several Overground services covering the area at Seven Sisters, Tottenham Hale, Bruce Grove, White Hart Lane and Northumberland Park. These train services link Tottenham to many other parts of London, including the City, Liverpool Street, as well as places in East Anglia, such as Cambridge. Tottenham Hale has a service direct to London Stansted Airport, making international travel easily accessible. The area also has frequent buses and is connected to local and national cycle networks.
Tottenham has a good variety of local schools, and they’ve all been rated either good or outstanding by Ofsted. There are plenty of primary schools, including Bruce Grove and The Mulberry. Secondary schools include Park View School and Gladesmore Community School, and there are also sixth form colleges, like The London Academy of Excellence.
There are great independents shops throughout Tottenham, including Simon Stuart Clothing, Celebration Partyware and Yaw’s Hair Salon. The people at Wildes Cheese deliver cheesemaking courses, or you can visit them to pick up some of their award-winning cheese.
High Road is a large thoroughfare running from Seven Sisters through to White Hart Lane, with loads of independent stores. There’s the Latin American Seven Sisters market, with over 100 traders selling amazing food and drink, and unique shops in what’s known locally as the Latin village.
For high street shopping head to Tottenham Hale Retail Park, which is a large shopping centre with national brands, department stores and food and drink outlets.
Tottenham’s diversity is reflected in its food. San Marco is a family-run Italian restaurant with half-metre pizzas, and Kata is a local Japanese restaurant serving sushi, donburi, and ramen. Rayaan Restaurant & Café serves East African food, Bruce Burgers has a great selection of burgers and milkshakes, and Adana Sofrasi is a brilliant Turkish restaurant. There really is something to suit all tastes.
If you’re heading out for a drink with friends, Antwerp Arms is a great community pub, and The Beehive has one of the best beer gardens around and serves up good burgers too. Beavertown has a local taproom, with plenty of space outside to enjoy a beer in good weather. If you’re after some cocktails, try The Roxy, which is a basement bar and nightclub. The Five Miles nightclub draws people from all over the capital for late-night partying, and its Middle Eastern café cuisine in the day.
Healthcare is well provided for with plenty of healthcare centres and medical practices, as well as North Middlesex University Hospital nearby.
Tottenham is home to the famous Tottenham Hotspurs FC and the team now has their brand new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is the third-largest stadium in the UK.
You don’t have to go far to get away from it all as Tottenham Marshes provide plenty of walking and cycling routes and have a vast amount of wildlife to watch and explore.
