At Hunters Forest Hill, we love our local area. We don’t just love houses or the local property market; our main passion comes from the people and the sense of community. Let us take you through some of our favourite things in the local area, with five hidden gems of Forest Hill.
The Forest Hill food scene is tantalising
Yes, every up and coming area thinks its local food scene is the best you’ll find. While the Forest Hill food scene may not make these bold claims, there is no denying that there are many fantastic places to eat and socialise in the local area.
From supper-clubs, coffee houses, and some of the leading Indian restaurants in the capital, there is no excuse for socialising on an empty stomach in Forest Hill.
Check out up and coming artists
You are spoiled for choice for art galleries in London, but if you want to see the next big thing, Forest Hill is the place to be. The C&C Gallery focuses on emerging and mid-career artists, so there is a high chance of finding something new. One great thing about the gallery is that they aim to develop relationships with artists, to support them, showcasing their talents. You’ll also find plenty of fantastic events so get your diary out and pencil in some time at the C&C Gallery on London Road.
Just Dance in Forest Hill
Just Dance may be the title of a Lady Gaga smash hit, but it’s also the name of one of the coolest groups of people in Forest Hill. The team put on a varied range of classes, with many taking place in the Forest Hill Boys’ School on Bampton Road.
Less than ten years ago, the group held their first class to just six attendees, and now, they teach and train more than 250 people a week. Whether you want to be a regular attendee at the fun classes, or you want to hire a one-off event, with hen parties a big hit, this is a great way to exercise and enjoy yourself in Forest Hill.
Be bowled over in Forest Hill
Reaching 125 years is a pretty special occasion, which is why 2019 is an exceptional year for the Forest Hill Bowling club. The club reaches this accolade this year, and there are many events over the summer to commemorate the landmark.
You may have a perception of bowling, but it is for people of all ages, and it is a great way to socialise, as well as stay active.
Blythe Hill Fields
If you are looking for stunning views, you won’t find many better places than Blythe Hill Fields. It can be useful to escape from the pressure of everyday life, and clambering to the top offers views of Canary Wharf, the City, Kent and Surrey. If you ever need some time to yourself, or to feel connected to many more places, this is a great spot to visit.
Of course, this is also the site for the Blythe Hill Fields Festival, taking place on Sunday 7th of July between midday and 5 pm. This gathering is a free local festival which features live music, entertainment, local beers and street food from around the world.
With games for children of all ages and plenty of community spirit, the Festival is a highlight on the local calendar. All proceeds go to improving the park, so if you’re keen to support your local community, here is a brilliant way to do so while having lots of fun.
