Jonathan founded what is now Hunters Southampton back in 2005, born out of a simple request from friends and family who trusted him to look after their properties. What started as J Clegg Lettings grew steadily into JCL Homes, and in 2016, Jonathan made the decision to join the Hunters network, bringing the backing of a nationally recognised brand without ever losing the independence that makes great service possible.
He has been investing in the Southampton property market since 2002, with particular expertise in the HMO sector and the nuances of renting to young professionals. That hands-on investor experience gives Jonathan a perspective most agents simply don’t have, he knows the legislation, the yields, the void risks, and the neighbourhoods because he’s lived them.

Away from the office, Jonathan is based in Lymington, close to where he grew up, with his wife and two children. Growing up on the Solent made a passion for sailing almost inevitable; he competed at Olympic 49er level and the water remains close to his heart. It’s no coincidence that Hunters Southampton has a growing presence at Ocean Village.
