5 Home Buys to Achieve the Wow Factor

If you want to set your home apart from others without renovating it from top to bottom, the trick is to buy a few different pieces here and there that will turn your ordinary home into an extraordinary one. Here are some ideas to get you started:

Lighting can be used in a range of different ways to help give your home a bit of a wow factor. Just buying a few sleek modern lamps to place around the room will instantly give your home a more luxurious feel.

If you don’t fancy buying any new lighting, then just use your existing lighting to create an atmosphere – use spotlights in the morning to brighten up a room and then use a dimmer switch to create an ambient effect in the evenings.

Wall Art

One way to transform your home is with the use of wall art. Frame pieces in gold and bronze wooden frames and buy large, dramatic pictures to put on feature walls to give them a bit of oomph.

Alternatively you can buy multiple smaller frames to cluster together – this works really well next to a staircase and gives people a chance to check out your pictures every time they go up or down the stairs.

Create the illusion of grandeur with some wooden furniture. Every room has a piece of furniture in it, so it is easy to produce the wow factor with a few new pieces here and there.

Chesterfield sofas look very glamorous and chaiselongs give an elegant edge to any room – if you want to take a more modern approach, then glass-topped coffee tables will really impress your guests.

Mirrors work brilliantly in every room, and for smaller homes they help to create an illusion of space and reflect light. There are many different type of mirrors to choose from and they will help to give every room a bit of a sparkle.

For the sitting room place one above the fire, in the hallway choose a floor length mirror and in the bathroom you could either have two or three around the room. Mirrors of any size look good and they usually come in a variety of styles too.

Accessories can go a huge way to giving your home the wow factor as there are so many different things you can do. If you have a black sofa then why not choose bright pink cushions? If you have an empty floor then why not throw a bit fluffy rug down.

For shelves and mantelpieces you can decorate them with exotic vases and trinkets or if you have a large table then buy interesting place mats and an interesting tablecloth to go with it.

There are tons of different ways to achieve the wow factor without breaking the bank, just don’t be afraid and remember nothing has to be permanent – if you change something and don’t like it, then just change it back!
