This is because it has been announced Nando’s is coming to the local area. The first Nando’s in Bridgend is set to open in December 2020, which means that chicken lovers will no longer have to visit Cardiff, Swansea or Llantrisant to snap up the food phenomenon.
Nando’s is heading to McArthur Glen Designer outlet
The well-known name will be taking over a unit in the McArthur Glen Designer outlet. There has been a lot of talk over the years as to when, or even if, the famous chicken outlet would set up in Bridgend. Therefore, there will be many people delighted at this news.
Of course, with so many local restaurants facing an uncertain time, there will not be universal glee about such a big name coming to the area. It is likely the chicken brand will have a big impact, and you can see many local outlets losing customers to the big-name brand.
A Nando’s spokesman said: "We are very excited to be coming to Bridgend and can’t wait to open our doors to local PERi-PERi fans in December." The company is advertising positions at the restaurant and is looking for people in full-time and part-time positions. The company currently has 12 restaurants in Wales, and the Bridgend store will join outlets in areas such as Newport, Llanelli and Cardiff.
New jobs are coming to Bridgend
The addition of jobs to the area is always a positive thing, and it is pleasing to see there are posts being advertised for the new Nando’s which is coming to Bridgend. In the past, the company has achieved recognition in the Sunday Times “best place to work award” awards, excelling in the big company category.
The company was founded in Johannesburg in 1987, and is known for serving up chicken in a Portuguese and African style. The most famous dish on offer at Nando’s is the flame-grilled peri-peri style chicken. The peri-peri dish is a big winner with diners, and it is sure to be popular here in Bridgend.
The company has more than 1,000 outlets and it is found in 35 countries.
The company arrived in the United Kingdom in 1992. The first restaurants were in the West End of London, operating in Ealing and in Earls Court. There was an initial focus on takeaway food, but as the company expanded, they also offer restaurant service in most outlets.
It is believed the company employs more than 8,000 employees in the United Kingdom, and back in 2013, they had close to 300 branches in the UK.
