The government recently launched their Green Homes Grant Scheme, a scheme that entitles you to a voucher that goes towards the cost of installing energy efficient improvements to your home.

The Green Homes Grant scheme offers grant funding opportunities for energy improvements to homes which can be accessed by all landlords and all homeowners.

You can see if you're eligible for the grant on the government website and find out exactly what it covers.

Landlords will be able to apply for a voucher of up to £5k for works per property and they will have to contribute a 1/3rd of the cost of the work, even if their tenants are in receipt of an eligible low income scheme benefit. Landlords are not eligible for a voucher of up to £10k or a 100% grant as homeowners can.

The grant can cover loft, roof, and wall insulation which are all primary measures and if one primary measure is installed then secondary measure can be claimed such as draft proofing, double or triple glazing, energy efficient replacement doors, hot water tank insulation, heating controls etc.

Unlike most other grant schemes, a you can apply for any property which would benefit from energy efficient improvements irrespective of whether the tenants are receiving benefits or not. If they are then the grant could increase up to £10k with no landlord contribution.
