Dearne Valley is an area of South Yorkshire that’s located between Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster. The area’s made up of several towns, as well as plenty of large and small villages.

There are good bus networks covering the area and providing regular services to Barnsley and Rotherham. Some local towns have train stations, such as Wombwell, Bolton-on-Dearne and Goldthorpe. Wombwell has two services an hour running to Sheffield as well as an hourly service to Huddersfield, making this area a great place to live for commuters. Goldthorpe provides regular services to Rotherham, Sheffield and Leeds. For those travelling by car, Dearne Valley sits between so many towns and cities making them easily accessible as they’re just a short journey away. It’s also between the M1 and the A1 making travel further afield accessible from here.

Families enjoy living here as there’s plenty of nurseries, primary schools and secondary school options for the children. There’s also a further education setting in Wath-upon-Dearne.

There’s an outlet mall in Brampton that has a lot of high street stores for locals to make the most of, and there are some supermarkets there for the weekly shop.

The area has good facilities including a leisure centre, a general hospital and several GP services.

Dearne Valley has plenty of lovely outdoor places to visit. Dearne Valley Country Park is a great place for a day out, with its woods, lake, skate park and play area. There’s also Old Moor, which is a family friendly nature reserve that has a great visitor centre, café and shop.
