Why live in Teesside?

Teesside covers the large area around the River Tees and it includes towns like Middlesbrough and Darlington. The North York Moors and North Yorkshire coastline are both just a 30 minute drive from the area, so there’s a lot to discover and enjoy nearby.

Teesside has great transport links, with the A19 and A66 providing accessible routes to the north, south and west. The A1 is also close by, making faster, long-distance travel accessible too. Good road networks means that commuting to nearby towns and cities is a great option for those living here. Also, both Eaglescliffe and Darlington have direct rail links to other cities, including Newcastle (which is just 30 minutes from Darlington) and London. Teesside International Airport provides direct flights to locations in the UK, as well as further afield.

There are great schools to choose from in the area, at both primary and secondary level, and there are also plenty of options for post-16s here at the local colleges and sixth forms. Teesside University offers quality courses that have gained national recognition, and some departments of Durham University are located in Stockton.

Teesside Park is a fantastic out-of-town shopping complex in Stockton-on-Tees, providing shoppers with access to many of the national high street brands. It has plenty of places to stop for a bite to eat, and it’s also got a cinema and bowling alleys. The charming Teesside towns, such as Yarm and Saltburn-by-the-Sea, provide a lovely range of independent shops, including gift shops, homeware stores, bookshops and clothing boutiques.

There’s no shortage of places to eat out throughout Teesside, with plenty of the national names available, as well as exciting independent bars and restaurants. Traditional pubs are easily found throughout the area too, serving great ales and hearty food.

When you want to go for a day trip, there’s plenty on offer here, including art galleries, museums, water sport activities, beautiful gardens, as well as everything the coastline has to offer. The area also has some iconic landmarks, including The Tees Transporter Bridge, Roseberry Topping hill, and the home of Middlesbrough Football Club, Riverside Stadium.

Teesside was the birthplace of the famous explorer, Captain James Cook, and you can discover his story at the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum, which is just outside of Middlesbrough.

    Georgina Branson

    Franchise Partner

I have worked in lettings for around 20 years and have been with Hunters for the past 9 since the franchise opened in Middlesbrough. I love the support that being a franchise offers - in the way of training through The Property Franchise Groups Training Academy, updates on ever changing legislation, marketing assistance, IT support - its the full package which allows us to get on with our jobs confidently and efficiently. Away from work I spend my time walking Hollie, my German Pointer and spending time with my husband and two step daughters. I love socialising with friends and enjoy the occasional night away in York or Leeds.

    Senior Lettings Negotiator

I have now worked in lettings for 6 years, the last 5 have been with Hunters. I feel working here has given me a chance to develop my existing knowledge through The Property Franchise Groups Training Academy and I have progressed to a senior position. Outside of work I enjoy walking my dog Luna, watching Netflix and Pilates.

    Lettings Negotiator

I started at Hunters 3 years ago on an apprenticeship and the following year started as a full time lettings negotiator. Working here has developed my confidence and I now head up a student lettings department. Away from work I enjoy kickboxing and decorating my first house.

    External Appointments Co-Ordinator

I have worked for Hunters for 2 and a half years, previously worked within the housing address dealing with social housing for 11 years. My job role here is extremely varied, I conduct viewings, property inspections plus both in-going and outgoing inventory checks. Outside of work I enjoy running and attending dance competitions with my oldest daughter. Having 3 children and 2 dogs keeps me very busy!
