West Hampstead Farmers Market Offering More Options

With many people looking to shop locally more often these days, it is good to know the West Hampstead Farmers Market is providing a lot of options. While social distancing measures need to be maintained, there is a lot to be said for the social aspect of these markets alongside the great produce on offer.

In July, the Farmers Market has been showcasing its seasonal wares, and there looks to be a lot of great fruit and veg on offer. Cherries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, currants, blackberries, plums, apricots and peaches are all in season, and you have a few suppliers to choose from with these products.

Shop locally and enjoy great quality food

The West Hampstead Farmers’ Market Facebook page has also been extolling the produce from Eden Farms, highlighting their sweet organic carrots, fennel and spring onions.

One thing to look out for is the Queens Park Lates sessions which are held at Salusbury Road Primary School on Friday evenings. These events start back on Friday 17th July and run between 6 pm and 10 pm. This is a chance to shop, eat and drink in the open air, making this a perfect activity for summer.

There is street food to enjoy, craft beer, award-winning wine, cocktails, gin, cider and of course a range of soft drinks. There is free entry to the event, although a queuing system will be in place and social distancing measures will be followed. Attendees are reminded that there is a maximum of three drinks per person.

More shopping options are coming soon

The West Hampstead Farmers Market also draws people attention to the fact that the Parliament Hill Farmers Market will be open on both Saturday and Sunday from Sunday 19th July. Anyone looking for more variety in their shopping or where they visit will find this to be an excellent addition to their weekend activities.

With different boroughs and local councils holding varied opinions on the safety and suitability of farmers market, many people feel the West Hampstead Farmers Market has been a positive presence in recent times. With a lot of scientific studies indicating being outdoors is better than being indoors, there is an immediate argument for farmers markets being the best place to shop.

Also, as mentioned above, there is a growing level of interest in shopping local and supporting businesses and suppliers in the local area. While the West Hampstead Farmers Market isn’t solely limited to local producers, there are many local businesses who are present every week. Also, if you are looking to support independent traders, you have a chance to do so.

Another benefit of these markets is you can see the produce first-hand, and you can ask the traders any questions you have about the products. There is a lot to be said for the convenience of online shopping, but equally, there are times when you feel more confident by shopping in person.
