There has been a lot of focus on the importance of video content when selling homes, and it is easy to see why. With many people looking to avoid physical viewings, video tours and virtual viewings are an excellent way for buyers and vendors to connect. Even when the market moves forward, video content has a role to play in selling property, and we are here to help you in this matter.

However, while there is a need to improve video content when listing a property, it would be wrong to overlook the importance of high-quality images in the housing market.

A study commissioned by financial services company Bankrate spoke to 2,750 buyers and tenants, asking them what they find annoying about online property listings. If you are looking to sell or let property, the findings will be of interest. Knowing what annoys prospective buyers and tenants, and knowing how to avoid these problems, will help you connect with your audience.

Your listing must have enough photographs

The factor that annoyed people most was a lack of photographs in a property listing. 82% of respondents said having less than ten images was too few. Therefore, if you are listing your property, you want to ensure you have at least ten images.

Of course, while you should focus on the number of images for your property listing, you also need to consider the quality of the photographs that are shared. 75% of respondents said that unflattering photos or low-standard images were also an issue.

Dull descriptions put buyers off

80% of respondents said a dull description was off-putting while 79% said the lack of a video was annoying. 70% of respondents said that having an unclear floorplan was an issue which prevented them from liking a property listing.

Other issues cited by the study include:

·         Messy or shoddy interiors

·         Poor English in the written description

·         An over-priced property

All of these complaints were cited by more than 50% of respondents.
