Harborne is a lovely Victorian suburb of Birmingham, and it’s just three miles from the city centre.

Harborne is well served by buses, taking commuters into the city centre and beyond. The nearest train station is University station, with services that take only seven minutes to reach central Birmingham. Birmingham New Street station has trains running to the rest of the country and there are services direct to London, Edinburgh and many other cities. The M6 is just outside of Birmingham and makes it to travel or commute by car.

    Andy opened Hunters Harborne back in 2012 with a vision to becoming the best and favourite Estate Agent in Harborne for service and customer satisfaction. Nine Years on and with 98% Customer Satisfaction rate to date Andy has become one of the go to property experts within the Harborne Community. With over 30 years property experience providing a wealth of local knowledge and with the main focus to put the customers experience at the heart of everything he does.

    Simon co-founded the business in 2012 with Andy. He is also the Managing Director of Wealth Solutions and a qualified Independent Financial Adviser managing over 600 million pounds of client assets, something he is very proud of but also recognise the huge responsibility involved. Simon started his career in Financial Services and property at Nationwide Building Society in 1991 and after a very rewarding time left to follow his entrepreneurial ambitions. Throughout his career one lesson he learnt was to provide exceptional customer service each and every day and to surround yourself with the best talent.

    Following several successful years within the industry Jake joined Hunters in 2019 to help with the management and growth of the office.     Caroline joined the business as a consultant in 2018 after Hunters Harborne successfully acquired her lettings business. Caroline now heads up the lettings department and is the go-to member of staff to assist with all thing’s lettings. Caroline has over 15 years’ experience in the industry as well as in-depth and extensive knowledge on running a successful lettings business, her landlords and tenants can be safe in the knowledge their best interests are always at the forefront her mind. She is also a member of ARLA.

    Ellie joined the team in 2019 having previously worked for another letting agency. She has already gained a wealth of knowledge in the sector and is now a key member of the lettings team. Ellie is always on hand to help with any landlord or tenant queries. She enjoys the diversity of her role and is looking forward to future progression.

    After developing her skills and knowledge over the last eight years, Sophie joined Hunters in August 2020 to help manage the continuous growth within the business whilst maintaining the highest of standards set over the last nine years. She has become an integral part of the team in both sales and lettings. With a wealth of experience in sales and lettings Sophie predominantly works behind the scenes offering extensive sales progression and offer negotiation to sellers, buyers, tenants, and landlords alike.

Local area guide

Harborne is a Victorian suburb that’s just three miles south-west of Birmingham city centre. It’s a great place for families and professionals who want to work in central Birmingham or close to the hospitals without sacrificing the sense of community that comes from living in a smaller area.

The nearest train station to Harborne is University station, and from here it’s just a seven-minute commute into central Birmingham. Harborne is well served by buses, which are another good option for travelling into the city centre. Birmingham New Street station has great connections to the rest of the UK, with services running direct to London, Edinburgh and Glasgow and many other major cities. The M6 is just outside of Birmingham, connecting the city to London and northern cities, including Manchester.

Children receive a great education in Harborne as it has plenty of good primary and secondary schools, including faith-led schools. There are also a number of private schools in the area which is a great opportunity to enter your children into Independent education.

Harborne High Street has a range of national brands, including Boots, Waitrose and M&S Simply Food. There are several independent stores, as well as boutique high-end retailers. Independents include the jewellers Silver and Love, and Maddison Retail, which is a card and gift shop. Birmingham city centre is within easy reach and has endless opportunities for some excellent retail therapy, including its famous Bullring shopping centre.

There’s a wide selection of independent and chain restaurants in Harborne. The Slug and Lettuce and Pizza Express provide some well-known names to the area. There are great independents too, like Harborne Kitchen, which presents fun, intricate and contemporary dining, and Sabai Sabai serving up fantastic Thai food.

Harborne has a good number of pubs and bars. The famous Harborne Mile is a pub crawl that runs along the High Street, taking in all the pubs along the way. The Plough is a great choice, with fantastic food, including sourdough pizza, and a lovely beer garden for the summer months. The Paper Duck has 18 taps of craft beer on offer, and bottles and cans to takeaway too. For those wanting to explore the nightlife in the city centre, Birmingham is only three miles away.

Healthwise, you can be seen at either public or private hospitals in the area. Hospitals such as The Priory and Queen Elizabeth Hospital which is also a military hospital and the largest single site hospitals and teaching hospitals in the UK. Harborne also has its own medical practice, and several local pharmacies, dentists and opticians.

There’s plenty to do in Harborne itself, with picturesque golf courses, and lovely local walks. The Harborne Walkway takes you along an old and unused railway track, with beautiful greenery all the way into the city centre. Harborne Pool and Fitness Centre has a great range of facilities for all the family, offering swimming lessons and fitness classes. There’s even a food school in Harborne, in a Grade II listed clock tower, where people can enjoy different cooking classes.

Being so close to central Birmingham there’s loads for people to enjoy nearby, including Rush Trampoline Park, The Birmingham Mystery Treasure Trail, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, and the Botanical Gardens.
