Why live in Kendal
Kendal is an historic market town often called the “Gateway to the Lakes” and sits just outside of the Lake District National Park, combining outdoor lifestyle, heritage, and a lively town centre.
The town centre hosts a wealth of independent shops, bars, cafes and restaurants and is famed for its multiple yards that lay hidden off the high street, and for the picturesque River Kent that flows through the centre.
For leisure and outdoor pursuits there is much to offer with multiple walking and hiking routes nearby and on into the national park, cycling & mountain biking trails, and for the hardy, fell running, hiking and water sports in the Lakes.
As well as selling homes in Kendal, we also cover the various surrounding villages and hamlets including Burneside which is a small, attractive village just 2 miles north of Kendal. With easy access to the National Park, a primary school, and a traditional pub and a village shop, it is popular with a wide range of buyers. 4-miles on and you come into Staveley, a lively scenic village which is popular with walkers, cyclists, and is less than 4-miles from Windermere.
Heading south from Kendal you come to the popular villages of Natland and then Oxenholme, each with their own distinct village feel and local services and being well positioned for the main West Coast Rail link at Oxenholme station. Moving further out there is Endmoor, sought out by buyers attracted to the quick connection to the M6 and the wider Cumbrian area.
We also cover down to Milnthorpe, taking in the settlements of Levens, Leasgil, and Heversham along the way, and from Milthorpe we have the beautiful conurbations of Sandside, Storth and Arnside located in the designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Kent Estuary.
