Transport

There are plenty of local bus services throughout the area and they connect Burntwood to Lichfield, Cannock, Brownhills and Walsall. For those travelling by car, Burntwood is well connected as it sits just above the A5 and M6 Toll roads. Whilst there isn’t a train station in Burntwood itself, there’s one just a few miles away in Lichfield. When travelling further afield for work or pleasure, Birmingham Airport is just half an hour's journey by car.

Education

Burntwood is a great place for families due to the number of primary schools in the area. Chase Terrace Primary School also has a nursery setting on site, and it was rated good by Ofsted. There’s Ridgeway Primary Academy, which has nursery provision too, and Springhill Primary Academy, which was rated good by Ofsted. For secondary school-aged children, there’s Chase Terrace Academy and Erasmus Darwin Academy, both of which have a sixth form.

Shops & Local Amenities

Burntwood Town Shopping Centre has a range of shops that provide residents with easy access to everyday necessities. The Trading Post is popular as it sells everything you might need at a great price, including toiletries, kitchenware and toys. Children can get their school clothes here in Burntwood at Uniform Plus Ltd., which saves the need to travel elsewhere. The town has a good collection of supermarkets too, including ALDI, Co-op Food and Morrisons.

There are plenty of cafes to enjoy in Burntwood, including some great independent options. The Bakery Chase Park and The Station Cafeteria are both popular with local people here. Strawberry Fields Farm and Coffee Shop is a mile out of the centre of town and well worth a visit to enjoy its delicious, homemade food, all served in a beautiful setting.

When heading out for a meal, Major Curry Affair Burntwood is a very popular Indian restaurant, and Pasha Banquet is a buffet-style restaurant with lovely décor and food. Hazelwood House Club is a well-liked pub serving tasty homemade food, and The Miners’ Rest provides great drinks and pizza. The Crown is a welcoming pub, as is The Cottage of Content, which has live music performances on some evenings of the week. Vintage Liquid Taphouse is Burntwood’s very own micropub serving up impressive cask ales and spirits.

Burntwood doesn’t have its own hospital, but there’s the Samuel Johnson Community Hospital just down the road in Lichfield. Cannock Chase Hospital isn’t far away either (five miles) and the town has plenty of local GP services as well as a local pharmacy.

Activities

Chasewater Country Park is a short drive away and it’s a lovely place with plenty of green space to explore as well as a 90-hectare reservoir. The park has a visitor centre, a café, a heritage steam railway, nature trails, cycle paths, birdwatching and plenty of water sports including sailing, water skiing, water zorbing and paddleboarding.

Burntwood Alpaca & Animal Farm is another fun place to visit. There are hands-on animal experiences such as alpaca walking or becoming an animal keeper, where you can feed and look after the animals. The farm also has an adventure playground and a deli farm shop and café.
