East Grinstead is a picturesque market town situated in West Sussex. The town is extremely well known for its wealth of architectural heritage and rich culture. The town itself is surrounded by an expanse of beautiful countryside, amazing greenery and scenic hillsides, making it a top destination for new home buyers that love good scenery.
History and Places of Interest

The town’s rich history dates back to the 1800s, and due to the strong preservation, you can still visit some historic spectacles. The famous Bluebell Railway line is still in full use in East Grinstead, and you can actually take a ride on a steam train! The town is also host to some of the National Trusts Standen treasures, all still available for the public to see.

It doesn’t stop here; there are lots of interesting places for residents and tourists alike. If you were a fan of Winnie the Pooh growing up, Ashdown Forest, where the stories are set, is located here. As well as this, the town has a rich history dating back to World War II, as the famed plastic surgeon Archibald McIndoe treated burn victims and formed the guinea pig club within the walls of the still standing Queen Victoria Hospital. Other places of interest include the country home of Sir Winston Churchill, the dwelling of Henry VIII’s second wife Ann Boleyn, Sandstone House built in 1609 (where the carol “Good King Wenceslas” was written, as well as a fully refurbished museum with a range of historic monuments.

The town centre also has a range of shops to browse through, including fashion stores, boutiques, health and beauty parlours, florists, jewellery shops, and music and entertainment stores. It also has a good selection of services, meaning you won’t have to travel far to get to the banks and building societies, garages, solicitors, opticians, locksmiths or even the estate agents.
