Most people have heard of “The Jolly Fisherman”, our famous Clock Tower and of course we still have a wonderful Pier, all dating from Victorian days when coastal holidays started. Then came Butlins and caravan holidays grew in popularity.
Entertainment for locals and visitors is now very varied with the Embassy Theatre, Museums, The Lifeboat Station, Natureland plus the Skatepark and a new Aquarium, fishing lakes, two superb golf course (one championship Links course), amusement parks, carnival parades, watersports, the4 SO Festival, Stock Car racing and beach events which include volleyball and motocross bikes etc
The resident population is 19,000 and increasing significantly in the summer months.
